However if you use a structclear on application then this will be deleted
and not recreated until the application is reset (afaik)

You should be able to export the registry settings from the "base" machine.
If you need just the datasource info, start here.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ODBC\ODBC.INI
Export this and save it to a file.
Then import it on another machine (assuming similar setups)

In a pinch you can use CF Studio's odbc tab to view a db. Double-click
on the table and you can view the data.
I do that and write cfquery smts to add/drop/alter from there, but my
use of sql server is strictly for dev testing so I don't need it to go
very far.

I was going absolutely bonkers not understanding why wasn't
always updating a field consistently, so I switched to and
updating the fields with SQL commands and it's now working perfectly. I
wasn't using any session or client variables other then those passed from

Working with any database in CF is easy and most of us know where we can find the
field names of a fetched query - programmatically...
Does anyone know off hand if it is possible to retrieve or otherwise determine the
field types that match the field names? (ie: text(length), integer, etc.?)

I'm having all kinds of trouble with using CFQUERYPARAM on a list of VARCHAR
values. I found a couple threads in the archives, and I can't figure what
I'm doing wrong. Here's the query:
SELECT table1.field1
table2.field1, table2.field2, table2.field3
