I'm starting to evaluate Mach II as a framework. It throws a LOT of
whitespace at the top of docs. Is there a version available that does a
better job of managing whitespace, or are there specific techniques that
people use to manage whitespace? I know it sounds pretty
anally-retentive, but
Bad idea for so so many reasons.
First, not at all scalable as a DB. Need more horsepower for an Access
DB? Buy a more powerful machine. Need more power for SQL Server?
Cluster it.
Second, horrible for design & maintenance. Need to make a change to an
Access database? You've got to take i
What, you mean it's returning "c24" instead of "nursing"? Well, since
that's what you're telling it to do, that's not surprising. If you want
to return "nursing" you probably need to do something like this:
Nursing
Followed by:
#getToken(SelectedService,2,",")#

Hi,
I'm writing an application that allows our client support reps to import
customer files of a predefined format into our database. The CSR
uploads (form via CFFILE) the tab-delimited text file to the server, and
then I loop through the file contents and insert the data into the
database.
Are you looking for a utility to use from the OS level, or for something
to use from within CF?

I do several things. None of them are foolproof, but they work quite
well together; I see perhaps 5 pieces of spam per week.
First, I have 3 email addresses (more or less). I have a personal email
address, which I only give to close friends and relatives. Second, I
have a Yahoo mail account,
Ummm...right-click, view source?

Something like this?
http://www.beerology.com/ars/ then click "Select User" from one of the
links in the left nav.

I ended up writing my own stuff to accomplish this. It's not too tough,
just grab the error output and dump it into a table.
tmp = structNew();
tmp.date_time = error.datetime;
tmp.message = error.message & " (" & error.rootCause.tagContext[1].ID
& "/" & error.rootCause.tagConte
I have had great experiences with Crystaltech.net

Yes, the page to be printed would contain this applet. We are using
this method for one of our applications.

This is not possible unless you use ActiveX or a client side Java
applet. Trust me. We tried. The closest you can get is something like
doing a body onload() event in _javascript_ and have it call the print()
function; this would bring up the print applet, so it would require the
user to cli
The one thing that still sticks out to me (I went from ASP to CF almost
5 years ago) is just how much more difficult database interaction is
when you're not using CF. I also explicitly DON'T like the presentation
layer control that the display objects take away; that's fine if you're

Of course, beer always tastes better when someone else is buying, which
is why I am so proud to say that I actually DO work for beer :P

I agree completely on the readability issue. In my application.cfm
file, I try to use cfscript blocks as much as possible, mainly to keep
code both compact and readable. I do the same thing on pages where I
need to set more than one or two variables. cfscript blocks are also
easier to find w
Someone here suggested using Aqua Data Studio instead of (or in addition
to) SQL Server Enterprise Manager. I downloaded it and have been using
it for a couple of days, and it's great. I still have to use Enterprise
Manager for some things, but it's a nice tool. I love the autocomplete
