Sorry for the long post but I've been working on this for a few days

I have a sql server and mysql background. I am a total newbie with
using oracle packages so bear with me :) The DBA's here had not even

Can you email me again? I accidentally deleted your email! I have
another pdf question. I figured out the reason the updates are not

I have acquired a really old dos application that I have rewritten. All
of the data was stored in .dat files. I have no idea of what they used
to create it because all I got was a compiled version of the app so I
can't see how the data was written. I open the dat files in notepad and
saw some
help!
If you can make the file available we can give it a look.. it you
cannot,
then there is not much we can do.

I am trying to update metadata for a ton of documents. This is a
project that is seriously driving me crazy! When I run the following
code it looks like it runs correctly. Then (using windows) when I try
to go to the pdf and look at the properties the title is not updated.

Has anyone connect to a word document via COM with CF 8 yet? If so, did
you have any problems with it? I am trying to connect and it WILL NOT
work. It is driving me nuts because I do not see any reason why it
should not. Just doing a simple connect/open file just hangs or I get
an error

It works fine
Any thoughts on section 508 compliance tools? Pro's and Con's of tools

I have to look into making a site 508 accessible that has a ton of
javascript in it (such as hidden div's, etc) Of course, I know someone
on here has had to deal with this. Can I get some information on
resources, comments on any tool/services used, and any other info I can
on 508 accessibility
I have a db with a bunch of pdf files and titles stored. Apparently the
file titles are wrong in metadata for the files but not the db. I have
to look at the db and then update the file metadata to what is in the
db. Anyone done this before?

We are using 7 right now. Will possible move to 8 shortly.

We have an app that is using verity to search docs and db. What is the
best process for speed when thinking about updating the index and doing
the cfsearch. There are thousands of records and will be a pretty
substantial amount of traffic. So far what I have read is the do a

you could schedule just the one index every 24 hrs in the quite hours
instead of after each new record addition

Michale's QofQ is a good idea - but don't forget you can search
multiple collections at once.

We have a verity search that searches db and docs. They want to combine
the results and then sort by relevance then date. I have done the
combination before by just putting it in a structure. Any better ideas?
