I thought about case sensitivity and double-checked it all. And I'm
not sure where the case sensitivity would be wrong as it fails on the
call to the web service...
Any other ideas? Anyone?

Don't forget that when you call a web service, CF caches the WSDL
response. If you are editing the WS, you need to refresh the WSDL
cache in the CF Admin, or use the refreshwsdl option in CF8.

If you've changed the webservice recently, you might need to refresh
the stubs on the VPS server via the CF administrator.

I'm calling several methods on a web service from my win xp dev
workstation. It works fine.
But the same web service called from my VPS which is on linux does not
want to play nice.
I get Cannot perform web service invocation theMethodName.
Even more odd, is that I can call a different method on

Any stability/performance difference with cf on linux vs. windows?
Anything to watch out for on linux beyond case sensitivity of files and db
tables? Some cfx tags can't work?
I've always used windows but linux hosting is cheaper. Hostmysite is about 40%
cheaper for linux; also thinking
Both platforms are perfectly stable for me. I have CF stuff running

I'm going to be one of those guys who tells you that stability issues
are more likely to be the fault of the way the code is written than on
what you are running it on.

The bandwidth consumption doesn't matter. As has been said
many times, any
pc, with any os can pretty much saturate the bandwidth serving static
content.
Now, when hosting CF sites, I would guess Linux to be better,
because linux
overall uses resources better (CPU, RAM, etc). Linux
There are some people who will say that CF MX applications are faster on
Linux, but I'm not convinced that they're faster to the degree
Well, it is true that you need a less beefy box to run CF on Linux than you
do on Windows, and this is true for just about anything.

The advantages of running CF MX on Windows are that, if you're comfortable
using and managing Windows, you can easily deploy CF MX applications. The
advantages of running CF MX on Linux are
Thanks Dave and Rick for the responses.
I am a bit hesitant to switch to an OS that I know very little about
(Linux) and make myself responsible for administering it. Otherwise, the
boss could administer it, but he's so swamped himself that I hat the
thought of having to go to him anytime I need
