Well, I decided on a 406 small block... I really want a 454, but I'm not
ready to get into the high $$ of the big blocks... plus I can make the big
block torque with a small
they made a sb and bb 400

you could also take a 396 and punch it out .060 over and that would be a 406

I forgot to mention... I think my alternator and
battery woes are cured now..
I bought an Optima red cell (that somebody
suggested.. don't remember who but thanks :) ) and a 105 amp Proform alternator
like Dale had suggested...
The new style alternator I had before was rated at
70 amps

Does anybody have a weight estimate for 69 core body (no
front fenders, no doors, no deck lid, no interior) Front and rear glass is still

Cliff,
1) Is it a mulit fit trans b/c the Chevy engine won't bolt up unless it is
or you have an adapter plate.

An air hammer works pretty slick too. I burned the centers out of mine,
popped the rubber out, then collapsed the shell with the air hammer until it
fell out.
