Fisher Body had a plant in Fairfield/Hamilton Ohio for years. They made
actual body panels & parts. They went out of business in the early 80's.
When they closed it caused a lot of turmoil in the area as they were the
biggest employer in Fairfield. It was the only time in the history of

Hey all
I went to Google and did a search for "VA state vehicle safety inspection"
I got a long hit list but this one was right up top.
There is nothing in there about steering wheels. And no emmission equipment
is nessasry for 1973 and older cars. All they do is look to see if its even
there.

Bill,
thanks for telling this story. I can feel the
frustration.
Looks
like your problem was fixed by spending more time and more money on it.
The two key elements I have found that are required to work on your own
car.
Good

The trans is a Raptor
700r4 ( http://www.transmissioncenter.net/ ).
Mine came out of Louisiana though. The reason I bought it was because of
all the high end stuff they put in it. My brother is an ASE mechanic and
has rebuilt about 100 transmissions in his life.
I have never gotten glass

Sounds to me like you still may have the problem with the wire coming from

Hey mark... where are you located at and where did you get the tranny from? What exactly was done on it? I know a couple guys that do Hi-Perf 700r4's. One will actually crack the tranny open while you watch and explain exactly what went wrong and what he will do to repair the problem. I had one don

$4000 to $4500 isn't a bad asking price for what you described for a 2 door.
It's too high for a 4 door.

I agree, 4500 is a fair price. The true cost is how much you will put into
it down the road. I paid 3500 for my 66 in fair shape with the distinct
understanding that I had a minimum 5000 additional out lay to get it where I
wanted it (at least for starters). But never underestimate the incident

2door or 4 door? Its pretty tough finding a 35 year old vehicle that looks
and runs good. anyway, half the fun of having a classic is working on it

It does'nt sound very expensive to me.
