sorry I can't help, but did 71 chevelles come w/ 307's? I think they do. I
found this 71 all white malibu w/ blk top, and it has 23,863 original miles
on it, and a 307 in it, and then to top it all off, there is a LS4 BBC 454
included w/ the car (TH400 is included also) and he's asking a grand to
I had the same problem when i put the 502 in a couple of weeks ago. I can
tell you my frame mounts are towards the back of the crossmember actually
past the edge if i remember right, I can check in the morning if you like.
There are some unused holes in the crossmember towards thr front.

If so it depends on what kind of rear end you have.
If your car is stock then it probably won't fit. The 66 rear ends if it is a

bolt would be a 8.2 28 spline. I think the 8.5 showed up in 68 or 69.

Sorry I dont have pictures, but here are some tips. The two mounts I

Hey guys,
I've been thrown a curve ball while doing this engine swap. I have a 71
Chevelle and this is the history that I know about it. When the previous
owner bought the car it had a 350 in it. He went to have the engine rebuilt
and (SOMEHOW) they convinced him to let them put a 307 in (don't
Tom's right, it is part of a wagon's fold-down rear seat. When I was in
California last year I saw several El's with the forward portion of the bed

already have all that you need to make the conversion(except some screw
Both of my Chevelles are under Hagerty. My Charger, and my mom's Jaguar will
be getting added to them soon as well. They were the only ones that would
write me a policy due to my age. I am paying $286 on my 70 SS and $86 on my
69 Malibu.

I have insured my '66 SS with Taylor for 10 years now. I have had one

full coverage, no deductible, and I declare the value. I raised the
value $2000 once. They asked why, I told them, and they agreed that the

I use Hagerty. I pay around $120 for $15K

If your 69 is not your daily driver, there are a number of insurance
companies that insure only antiques. They typically require that you have
an insured regular daily driver car, the antique is driven with limited
pleasure driving milage like 3K - 5K per year and is garage kept. I

No, I won't be putting headers on it. All I really want is to get it on the
road and drive it.
And thanks to everybody who responded. I got a private email from somebody
who is mad at me for not publicly thanking him for responding. He said it
"ruined his day". I hope you have a better day today.
Thanks Jeff for the verification
