If it's a 454 built 1972 or eariler, not bad price if rebuildable/good
condition. gm66

Have a chance to pickup a late 70's vintage 454. The owner wrecked the vehicle
it was in and says that the engine was just rebuilt. Its complete less the
carb. A quick inspection under the valve covers indicates that it is extremely
clean. The owner wants $2000 for the engine. Do you guys think
NOT SURE IF YOU CAN FIND THIS BUT I HAVE SEE AN EXPANDABLE FITTING ON A CARB
BEFORE, LOOKED LIKE THE ONES FOR A FREEZE PLUG, TIGHTEN THE FITTING AND THE
RUBBER EXPANDED FOR A TIGHT FIT. I HAVE NOT SEEN ANY AROUND BUT SOMEONE MAKES
IT.NOT MUCH BUT IT IS A THOUGHT.
That's not an option. I paid big $$$ for this carb, it's going on an
original restored numbers matching car. The seller is offering my
money back, but these carbs are hard to find and I really want to
make this one work. I don't believe the teflon tape will work
either, since the leak appear

Bill,
I had the same problem with the treads being stripped. What I did was to
take out the filter in the carb, cut the line back to where I could add an
inline fuel filter and then JB Weld the treaded line into the carb. Had no
leaks since.

I would try teflon tape on the treads of the fitting.

I bought a Quadrajet from a guy, the fuel inlet threads had been
helicoiled. I installed it on the car yesterday and it's leaking
fuel from the inlet. I've tightened the 1" nut as tight as I dare,
and it still leaks. It has a nylon seal washer on it and the end of
the helicoil may be stickin

To prepair it for painting I first used de-greaser, sanded it with the
finest
paper I could find & then plastic primer before painting it.
The primer I used was slightly "sticky" & works like a "bridge" between
the plastic & the paint.

I guess you could use a proportioning valve to level out the brakes!?
