Can anyone give me directions for changing the weatherstriping around the vent
window on a 65 Malibu? Any "special tools" or hardware needed? I have both
assemblies out of the doors.

I agree, go powder coat. I just had mine done in gloss black and it came
out great. I also had the front end parts done, pretty much anything without
rubber that would burn off in the oven. Just remember to clean any threaded
holes with a thread chaser.

I have a complete 65 283 from air cleaner to oil pan, it still has the
clothes pin on the gas line. It was running when I pulled it but it needs some

My friend is looking for parts for his 66 Elky, 396, a/c. After the car was
in the body shop for over a year, the shop was seized and lots of the parts

It might be full of grease which could be creating a suction action on the ball and preventing you from pulling it out of the z-bar.

I could be wrong but that mounting plate looks like one I had for my Hurst Super Shifter which raises the shifter up through the hole in the floor. You need to get a standard mounting plate for your car.

I would look hard at the exhaust system as it goes over the rear end. Look for a loose or broken hanger. Be sure to jack up the car from under the rearend. This will keep the rear in the same position as when it is on the ground.

Pull them up as far as you can and spray Carb Cleaner on them. This will help dissolve the varnish buildup around the lifter base. You may have to work the lifter up and down a few times but they will come out with very little effort.

Does anyone have any ideas about insurance for their classic chevy? I have checked with my regular carrier and they want almost as much for my Malibu as my every day 85 Elky. I seem to remember there was always some outift selling insurance for classics at every car show or swap meet I went to.

There are two different sized springs, one small for the fork to retain the adjustor rod and the larger one to hold the pedal up which attaches from the z-bar to a bracket attached to the body. I pumped grease into the Z-bar until it started to put slight pressure against the pivot balls. G

I just got done rebuilding mine on my 65 Malibu. Although all my parts were new, the ball should come out once you remove the retaining ring. If your z-bar is still full of grease, the grease might be creating enough of a suction type seal that will make you pull a little harder than you mi
And they had great bucket seats that fit lots of different bodys from my first 57 Bel Air to my present 65 Malibu (same #s) even the trim is the same except for only the outside piece being chrome and the inside being painted. All you have to do is recover them in the right pattern.

Sorry for the mispell. I ment the COVER has a 65 two door wagon not cave. I
just got these two fingers a week ago and am still breaking them in.
The most recent issue I have is May/June Vol. 6 No. 3. The cave has a 65 two
door wagon in front of a jet. It must be the anticipation of recieving the
next issue that makes it seem like it takes forever between them.

picked up his just rebuilt M-22 4spd with brand new Hurst Competition Plus
linkage (less chrome arm) also with all clutch parts for a price I could not
refuse.
