I need some help. a club member has a 1972 El Camino which has 1969 tail lights in it? the el camino was built in Van Nuys. has anyone ever ran across this before? we have found no indication of body work in the tail light area. from what i understand 69 tail lights will not fit into the 72

Larry, I cant imagine why that would require major modifications. The rear quarter panels are the same except that 69 has rear marker lights, and the tailgates are the same. The 70-72 tail lamp lenses also appear to be very similar in shape to the 68-69 lenses. The main difference is that

So, just for the heck of it, I opened up my Chevrolet El Camino Photofacts book, and there's a rear 3/4 shot of a 72 on page 39, and the tail lamps sure as heck look like 69's to me. It's definitely not a 69 either, because there are no rear marker lights and I can see enough of the front
