Thanks Jeff!
I bought them pre-welded, and didn't have a choice on the width that I knew
of. I'm not sure I wouldn't known to ask any differently when I ordered
anyway.
I've heard a rumor that NHRA might not like having the fuel line inside the
frame rails. The reasoning is that they can't see
Michael,
I looked at your site pretty awesome looking ride!!!
Those frame rails are really narrow aren't they? Did AM decide how wide to
make them or did you pick the width? On the clips that have bought for
customers from AM we have picked the frame rail width.
I liked how you tied the frame in
Kyle,
I would go for the larger 38" x 22" tubs. You don't want to end up not
having enough room for those big tires or a bigger slick later on. I used
the 40" x 23" on my car.
As for the RR choice I really liked my 12 bolt. I just keep bending the
housing. When I removed it the last time it had
My frame rails are 21.5" between them. The center section of the RR housing
is centered.
I wish I'd have bought the unwelded version. Might have been a heck a lot
easier! Once I realized all the issues, it was pretty much too late to do
anything about it. We just worked around them.
I have
I'm not Jeff, but I'll chime in. :-)
Tire size is probably more personal preference. I chose the 31 x 18.5 for my '69
because they fit in the stock wheel well opening without having to cut the
quarters. I'm pretty sure you'll have to open up the wheel wells for the 21" wide
(or set the wheels
Out of curiosity, what does the width measure now? I'd hate to put myself in the
same situation.
Thanks,

Thanks for the help Jeff.
So would you suggest using the 32x22 tubs with the 31 X 18.5 X 15 Pro street
tires? Or go with the larger ones?
Since this car will have 450+ Hp and 550 with NOS, would you recommend the 12
or the 9. I'm assuming the 9 due to your torque experiences, but the 9 i have

Michael,
How wide are your frame rails? RR housing? I did all the work on my own
car and bought the unwelded frame rails/ladder bar kit from AM. I was able
to decide how wide to make my frame rails. I have about 3" of clearance
between the frame/slick and body/slick.I can run a 16x33x15 slick on
Great advice Jeff, I would consure with most of what you mention.
I have the Art Morrison rear clip in my 69 Chevelle. The frame rails are too
narrow. With my Ford 9", the driver's side ladder bar mount had to be welded
to the flat surface of the center section!! Jeez, now I have to remove the
Kyle,
I ran a 12 bolt in my car for about 3 years. The problem I had was keeping
the rr housing from bending. Lots of torque heavy car and transbrake. I
installed a F*** 9" w/ backbrace & bulkheads/stiffners inside and so far so
good. The problem in my case with the 9" is it's about 50-75 lbs. he
I've got a backhalved 68 Chevelle. I did the adjustable ladder bar and coil
over route. My frame rails are 24" wide on the outside. My rearend is
40-1/2 housing end to housing end, with a 46-1/2" axle flange to flange
diminsion. I used 33 X 16 X 15 slicks on Weld 15 X 14 X 5 backspaced wheels.
