Since mine is mostly damaged near heater box I'll probably do the glue and tape thing
and reassemble and no one will see it anyway.

Ok guys (and gals), I put in my firewall insulation and went
to push in the black plastic things After almost snapping my finger in
two and then engraving the plastic thing into my hand, they still wont
go in. I got one in with a hammer but the rest are far from being close

There are actually 2 different pieces of insulation. There is the one
called the under dash insulation and the pad that uses those little black
plastic plugs to hold it in place. The pad that goes on the firewall

Take a look at http://www.dynamat.com/. They make all
kinds of insulation and heat reflecting material. I used it on the
underside of my glass hood to help protect the paint but they have special
interior stuff as well.

Dynamat is
great and works pretty much anywhere, but it's expensive, and you have to cut
it to shape. The pre-cut pads are really not expensive and they are a breeze to
install because they are already the correct shape.
