Bob; I have the 71 Chevelle/El Camino Factory Assembly Insturction Maunal in front of me.  The two vent openings you are referring to are 1) the left one is the center dash vent assembly   2) the other is right dash vent  (use flex tube/ducting to connect). I got my flex ducting  from Ground Up

Does anyone have any idea on the routing of the A/C and heat ducts. I've completely restored this Ss and am putting the interior back in. Dash, guages, Headliner, etc, etc. etc. The interior was out of this car when purchased but I'm very close to completion now. There is what I call a junction box
