SOME truck engines have a .400 taller deck height. I have not seen any tall deck motors in light duty trucks. The 402 in my car is a std deck 71-71 truck motor. Works just fine just not the original for the car. My 454 motor came out of a late 80's dually pickup. Walt >= Original Mes

Steve Truck engines generally have a taller deck.  You can check by measuring the distance from where the water pump mounts to the top of the block or look at the left water pump mounting point and see if it is solid or not.  The 402 is nothing more than a .030 over 396.  Nothing wrong with that b
