As far as Chrome water pumps go they are not junk unless you get a rebuilt one that is done with an inferior seal. Many chrome parts on a motor can and will leak after a period of time or even upon installation if not install properly for example over torquing the bolts and crushing the gasket. C

Chrome anything on an engine is junk, but that is just my
opinion. I always go by the old chrome leaks theory, I would
put an aluminum pump on it and save yourself the
