I don't find you judgemental at all. Everyone has their own opinion on training. Using food rewards is only one way to train a dog. Some dogs are not as "eager to please" as others so it is good motivational tool. My dogs were trained with both treat rewards and praise. Also, I rarely ever

Sheila, The clicker makes one "click" sound. You start off with just clicking (once) and giving a treat. This can be done without the dog doing anything at the beginning. At first, you just "click" and treat, "click" and treat, over and over so the dog associates the "click" with the reward
