I don't seem to be able to reproduce this bug in the latest build of
Chromium for Mac [Version 4.0.204.0
(204.0)]. Maybe it's fixed?

It seems that Chromium for Linux [4.0.202.0 (23408)] + SCIM (built-in
Chinese input method for Ubuntu)
doesn't have the problem.
