I also am having this issue in 2.0.170.0. FF 3.0.7 works fine. I tried
disabling
and enabling the gadget with no luck. Offline gmail is not enabled.

Having the same problem. Reverting to earlier versions of Chrome, the
problem went
away. Going up again from stable, to beta, to dev, and hitting version
