Managed to build another version using make instead of hammer. The debug
build had
the same freezing problem that the binary did. However, I tried running
the build

I was able to replicate this issue by doing nothing but
Control-T, Control-T, Control-T, Control-W, Control-W, Control-W
in other words just opening and closing empty tabs.
