Reproduced the problem while working via VPN, tried to open

Ok, I reinstalled Chrome to start off clean.
1. I'm in my ISP's network, proxy is not required and not configured.
Everything
works fine.

Proxy script seems to work fine when I'm inside the company's network (no
VPN). But the
