It didn't read into Cinelerra for me either; however, mplayer did read
it (output at bottom).
I did try using ffmpeg to do a simple convert:
ffmpeg -i tv_test.avi tv_out.avi
That did not work. I also tried convert to mov:
ffmpeg -i tv_test.avi tv_out.mov
but the audio and video we desy

Yes, that is my situation, as my camera's output is 720p, 29.97fps. I
will try your workaround.

It's a file I got from my Hauppauge WinTV Nova-T PCI card using that
command:
nice -n -20 mencoder dvb://'ARTE' -ovc copy -oac copy -idx -o tv_test.avi
It's an AVI fi
