Rich,
I'd like to know exactly what went wrong.
Was the error at ./configure stage?
Did you get openGL not enabled?
Or what other error did you get?
Also:
In the Settings->Preferences->Playback-Audio Out window

Hi August! :-)
I thought I might also add that I need to install these libs first

Are you saying that you tried to compile Cinelerra-cv on Ubuntu 10.10
following the instructions on Cinelerra for Grandma
and you got some libraries missing?

Raffa,
I thought I might also add that I need to install these libs first
before building:
sudo aptitude install libvorbis-dev libvorbisfile3
sudo aptitu
The provided instructions did not work for me. I used parts for other
Cinelerrra compilation instructions. At this point I do not understand the
details of the build process.
The --enable-mmx got openGL to stop erring .
My Alsa coment stems from a bug report

Hi Rich!
One must alter the instructions provided by
http://www.g-raffa.eu/Cinelerra/HOWTO/compilation.html.
I might be a bit naive, but I'm a bit skeptical in altering instructions
that work.
What's the advantage of running
autoreconf -i --force
instead of
./autogen.sh
Now the problem.
Ubuntu 10.10 does not support the OSS audio driver.
There is no option to select any other driver in the preferences menu.
sure?
have a look at attach, it's from cin version i'm using now...maybe i
dinn't understand...
cheers!
Any ideas?

Hello all
I have successfully compiled Cinelerra on 10.10 64 bit!
One must alter the instructions provided by
http://www.g-raffa.eu/Cinelerra/HOWTO/compilation.html.
autoreconf -i --force
./configure --with-buildinfo=git/recompile --enable-mmx > configure.list
make
sudo make install
sudo ldco
Yes reading your website "grandma" seems easy to compile ... Maybe one day.
Yes I'll wait for the next release. "To wait" That's what we learn with
Linux in first place ;-))
No, I'm on 10.04 and not going to 10.10. (That was Patrick who was
looking for cinelerra for Maverick) i did stop changin

There are no packages for Ubuntu 10.10.
Instead of moving backward to 10.04 you could try moving forward and
compile CinelerraCV from source.
It is not so difficult once you have the righ
