I had a similar problem with a PIX-501. My solution was to add 'modem
cts-required' under the line configuration of the termainl server connected
to the PIX.
I dont think it is a cable issue... troubleshoot physical layer up. If you
can use a computer with a rollover cable and it works, you sho
and the light goes on!
You are correct. DR and BDR are per segment, not per area.
Routers on the same segment become adjacent, not ever router in the same
area.
However each router in the same area will have the same database for the
area.

When EIGRP and IGRP share the same AS, redistribution in automatic.
However, keep in mind that EIGRP will handle VLSM, and IGRP is a classful.
As I see it, EIGRP on the left advertises routes to IGRP in the middle, and

procuct (first end-user that paid for it). This is second-hand knowledge,
but was told this by a Cisco rep. If you sell the router... legally there
is no IOS other then the boot-roms.

First... you said TCP/IP only environment. Since you are not using a
non-routed protocol, I would route and not bridge. Bidging might make your
windows environment easier to configure, but I believe that the overhead may
saturate the link.
