When you staticly map a network layer address to a dlci and reload your
router, that mapping (sh fram map) should only show up as static, not
dynamic. On the router reload, the static mapping overrides the routers need

They work great as a frame switch etc. The 4000 (not 4000M) can be a little
hard to upgrade (flash wise). Also, they won't take the newer modules
(NPM's) that the 4500 and 4700 can. However, they do token ring, ethernet,
and serial connectivity quite well. Do your homework first. Look at the Boot
