All,
I have recently acquired a CiscoPro Etherswitch 2200,
but am at a loss as to how to find upgrade software for
the thing. The OS on it is several years old, and I
really want to update it a bit, but I can't find a thing
on Cisco's site, or anywhere else for that matter!
Does a

I am intending to purchase a CPA2503, Ciscopro router. It is similar to a
normal 2503, has 1 ISDN, 1 Ethernet, 2 Serial.
I don't know much about these routers, and have heard that they are not
upgradable. I did come across a CCO page that said you could upgrade them.
Anyone have experience
Many came with 4MB of Flash.
Seems that it has already been "Cisco-ized". Go for it.

Speaking of terminal servers. Anything wrong with a CiscoPro 2511? I
mainly want it as a terminal server, and having it rack-mounted is much
nicer than a 500-CS. Sell claims "Running Cisco IOS Version 11.0(16) -
Flashed to use Standard Cisco 2511 Images." Any other limits on the

The show ver will indicate that the router is a CPA2500. If it has be
"Cisco-ized" it will say Cisco2500. (If memory serves me correctly.)

Is their a way to tell, like using sh version for example to see if a
CiscoPro has been upgraded to normal IOS? I am not sure what in a "sh
version" gives it away as being a ciscoPro.

Hi
They are basicly the same in all of the series. Sometimes they need a little
hardware upgrading, i.e. bootPROMs, flash, DRAM. You can buy a copy of IP
only IOS off the Internet for about $10 (www.onvia.com) for the 2500 which
includes the CiscoPro upgrade which will allow the pros to run any
Can anyone summarize the differences between Cisco and CiscoPro product
line (2500 series) (besides one being blueish green and the other
being white). Is their a procedure that has to be done so that a
CiscoPro can run any IOS?
Thanks,
Brian
The CiscoPro boxes were sold through distribution. They had specific IOS
versions. You cannot just load a new IOS on the box. There is a utility
program on CCO that converts a CiscoPro into thinking that it is a Cisco.

Most had 4 MB of Flash. Best
Check the archives, search under CPA2501 and or CiscoPro there are quite a
few posts there.
