Hi all:
I need information about any software to detect intruders, so I heard
something about NetRanger, which is used for intrusion detect, but i don´t
know if this software is in my Cisco IOS or is independent.
How can I know it?, is It really efficient for this purpose? Anybody had
used this
Has anybody ever used NetRanger? Is it a worthwhile device? Also, can you
monitor crc errors with it? Any information would be much appreciated.

"run-time" version of HP OpenView to run the NetRanger Sensor Management
Console, and it is not included on the Management CD. My question is, can
you get the OpenView runtime version free somewhere or is this

workstation into a Sensor? If so, has anybody ever done this, and were
there any problems, or does this new sensor behave exactly like one bought
from Cisco?

Check http://www.snort.org/
It is the most used IDS, is open source, runs on linux, solaris, windows
and you can find several free management software in the site.
New signatures are created almost every day
