BB, I don't understand why you think the 6500's are too slow. Right now a 6500 will support 32Gb back plane or 15Mpps switching, and with the upgrade coming out later this year it will support 256Gb back plane. That seems awful fast to me. Good luck in your findings. -Original Mes

For 4000 series, if you buy the new integrated layer 3 services engine (http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/cc/cisco/mkt/switch/cat/c4000/prodlit/c4kl 3_ds.htm), it will support L3 switch. Also, for the performance comparsion, it is not correct to just consider how fast is the backplane speed. You
