Given 2900 series variations of switches and the capability of enabling
"multi-VLAN" (ie. assigning more than 1 vlan on each port), what are the
advantages of using ISL-aware NICS instead? One scenario I'm thinking is
having a server port on switch configure for 2 vlans (vlan 2 + vlan3)
I would think the difference is multi-vlan port can't block inter-vlan
multicast and broadcast, for example, it will forward unknown mac frame or
multiple vlans stp message to all vlans to which it was assigned, but ISL
trunking will restrict MC and BC in it's original vlan, which is good. :)
