I was aware that the FPGA pairs were 1,4, 2,3, 5,7 and 6,8 I just reversed
the numbers 3 and 4, sorry about that
Kind regards,

Maybe, but Cisco is going to charge you a lot of money for that.

I assume "license" infers purchasing the IOS you require? (So, if you require
adv enterprise, you must purchase the license for it)
But you can purchase smartnet on secondhand kit, and you have full access to
download whatever software you want? (But this would be deemed illegal?)

But you cant purchase (legally) refurb/secondhand kit and use it with the
software running on it?

Hi,
mapping of ports on WS-X6708-10GE to ASIC's is quite different. It's
very common mistake.
First ASIC is mapped to ports ((1,4),(5,7)), second ASIC is mapped to
ports ((2,3),(6,8)).
Capacity of inner pairs is 16Gbit, quadruples are 20Gbit.
You can try to switch module to the performanc

Off the top of my head:
1. Some authentication changes need a port down/up to take effect.
2. Certain other changes (e.g. removal of RADIUS accounting on a Cat3750) can
cause MAB to stop working. The port will show "MAB running" but nothing happens
when the end device sends traffic. Solution i

I presume that this module uses Janus ASICs for replication. If so,
keep in mind that this chip doesn't have a huge amount of replication
capacity. The ingress Janus chip is responsible for replicating

The issue we are running into is that when we initially deployed 802.1x we had
the command "authentication open" on all of our switch ports. We ran a
CscoWorks job last week Thursday to remove that command from all of our ports.
Since that time we have ran into a couple of weird issues where the
It¹s a given the load coming from other modules would go through the
fabric, whether inter module traffic does depends on which ports you are
using and how SPAN is handled with distributed-forwarding, must admit I¹ve
never given that much thought.
On the 6708 there are two ASICS ,one for port 1,3,
I mentioned this to my cisco account se and they said no, 7609 vss is

If this is for a permanent monitoring solution look at network taps from
someone like gigamon or netoptics. Save your SPAN ports for debugging
network issues - you can very easily overload line cards and fabric when
using SPAN.

Thanks Phil,
The last question is about the effect of the SPAN on fabric load , the
monitored traffic from other module will cross the fabric on its way to the
replication engine of module WS-X6716-10T and contribute on fabric load right
