Is there perhaps a better way to force a switch to reload immediately
when it hits an exception, without attempting to write anything to
flash?
Like I said, I feel stupid for asking, but just wondering if anyone has
found a way to do
ing these IP's only for internal communications then I
don't see a problem, but if you expect Windows clients elsewhere on the
network to be able to talk to these IP's, you will run into problems.

Sun's telnet used Ctrl-] (Control Right-Bracket) as the escape
character, by default. You can press Ctrl-] and then give the "quit"
command to telnet, to break the connection.

ll be deploying a new router next week, so I will get yet another
chance to confront this issue. Confirmed that the new router does show
the 'system mtu routing 9000' in its preconfigured state, so I'll see
what happens after we connect the first servers to it.

command:
system mtu jumbo 9000
that a reload is required for it to take effect, but no such warning is
issued for this command:
system mtu routing 9000
Because of that first requirement, we do reload the box after applying
the config template to it, so I think I can answer "yes
"admin down" until a server is eventually plugged in. It
seems that I have to reissue the "mtu routing 9000" setting in order to
get that VLAN to inherit the correct routing MTU setting.
But I'm just guessing. Anyone else seen this?
