I don't use MacPorts or any other non-standard build environment, I

Mark, this has been an issue for many versions along with a slew of
others things not working as expected.
As much as I liked ClamAV, we've abandoned it as a mail solution
shortly after things stopped working correctly and they changed the
required build tools so you can no longer build it
team.
Please let me know if we need to take this offline and discuss or
anything I can do to help.

Hi,
are you a mac developer? Have you ever played with ClamAV on OS X?
all older versions and dependancies have been removed, config files
updated per instructions.
Tested on PowerPC and Intel based Macs with the same results.

The changes make it difficult to understand if clamd is functioning

I've reworked my PHP code to be 0.90 API compliant so maybe it can be
added to the contrib.
It's been so long since I worked on it that I had forgotten what I
was doing and had to ask for a little help (thanks Henrik Krohns).
It works very well and it's detection seems to be much better

Well I wasn't entirely correct when I said using ltmain.sh from
gmp-4.1.4 solved all of the shared library and build issues.
Using the one from gmp-4.1.4 still has a problem on some FreeBSD and
