While the results of laboratory studies have been promising, at this time
the available scientific evidence does not support claims that green tea can
help prevent or treat any specific type of cancer in humans. Controlled,
randomized clinical trials are needed to determine its effectiveness.
I have been so concerned about this issue between Gleevec, CML and
green tea that I had to write to Carolyn and Dr. Druker.
Carolyn wrote me back and this is what she basically said:

It seems that confusion over avoiding green tea for people taking CML
TKI drugs (Gleevec, Sprycel, Tasigna) has come from a couple sources.
One is apparently anecdotal information from a few doctors who have
CML patients who drink green tea, which is a very unreliable source of
