My son's laptop dual boots to Windows 7 and Linux Mint. The various Linux installers will see Windows already there and ask if you want to do a dual-boot install. Adobe has Linux versions of their software and Mint comes with LibreOffice. LibreOffice can be set to save in Microsoft Office formats

Thanks to all - a small wheel puller plate with the right bolts let us get the coupler off the shaft, much like several helpful suggesions. REALLY GLAD I did this, pulled off the 34 yr old aging stiff packing gland hose and found it just barely covered a small hole in the boat - unusually poor
