Not familiar with Marmac. Controls mounted on steering pedestal? Who
manufactured it?? They might be a good source. Edson may be a help. Google

Chris,
Are you talking about a bulkhead mounted engine control? Single lever or
two?
Marmac made a single lever control. The Uflex B35 is similar. See:

It is a two lever control. The outer housing rotates with the throttle lever
and the inner housing rotates forward and back for forward, neutral and
reverse. I guess it's a side, flush mount, mounted to starboard of the wheel on
the side of the helmsman's cockpit.

Chris, I suggest you Google up Morse controls. There are many configurations
including types that will mount pretty much exactly the way your current unit
is. The cables are probably due for replacement too.

Calypso has a similar ablative paint situation as you describe. We are in the
PNW with cold water so we mostly have slime and a few barnacles to deal with.
For the past 14 years, every two years we haul and have the bottom pressure
washed to remove the loose bottom paint. If there are any
We had something similar happen in Bermuda. We got a temp weld job to get us
home and then replaced the originals with Morse controls.

The welder at the Naval Academy shop didn't think he could do an adequate job.
May try to epoxy the halves together. Bacon's didn't have anything similar. I
think it's going to be a winter job. A large pair of vise grips will do the job
temporarily if nothing else works.

Chris,
Try Atlantic Spars in Annapolis. They were able to weld my hatch frame.

I have a 30-2 and I have had adhesion problems, too. I use Micron CSC, too,
but I don't race my boat. In my situation, I had spots where the original
gelcoat was exposed, and new paint would simply not adhere well [brush or
roller]. However, I've had success with doing a light sanding
Marcus,
I have had the keel of my boat dropped and rebedded. One bolt is under the
mast. It takes several men and a good travellift to get the job done. The
keel bolts are very long. We came very close to running out of room on the
travellift. My boat is quite similar to yours. I can
Chris, gotcha
Touche' had the same thing. Mine failed when the 4 machine screws holding
the mechanism behind the bulkhead sheared off. When I moved the levers,
the whole assembly moved so neither the throttle or the shifter worked. It
happened at the end of a transit. We put the tranny in
Jake,
Once again, perfect timing. I would be very interesting in seeing photos of
what to expect when dropping the keel and rebedding. I just yanked the mast
this morning and the keel joint/keel-bolt maintenance is on the top of the
project list for this coming Fall.

Four years ago I replaced all the hoses for the 29-2. The boat is used by the
family with three young children. The head and holding tank is smelling. What
is the best way to get rid of this. I could replace the hoses etc. Any advice?___

Here is what I do. Rarely if ever do I have bad head odor
Flush only with fresh water - I use the shower head from the sink to flush.
Pump out regularly - I pump out after each weekend night away, and as
frequently as possible on cruises.
Flush thoroughly
