Yes, I ment casual racing for fun. I'm not into stressing my boat and
sails, breaking stuff if I have to live on it. I'll have full cabinets,
food, clothes, ac, etc. I'd be nowhere competitive with 1.5 years of
sporadic sailing on a lake either. I'd like to have fun though.

I have the track but no hardware for it. It seems high to lead to the primary
on the side deck. How do you run the genoa sheet from this track? Dave

Same here. I bought my 35-3 this winter to live aboard and pleasure sail,
but I do my racing on other boats. Even if you're new to it, I would
expect that it shouldn't be too hard to find reasonably good racers looking
for extra crew. It's terrific experience.
I'm hoping to enter mine in some v

I’m thinking of mounting one of these inside a coaming box, probably on one
end-wall of the box; we’ll see if I get that far this spring. I’ve got plenty
of other projects going on before launch in two weeks or so...

Fred sent this out a few weeks ago. Looks to be superior to Motorcycle
style, which is what I have (though mine has worked without issue.)
This is what I would do if I were to do over, though it appears to be 'wall
mounted,' which is not ideal for binnacle / helm.

I use 9" on the C&C 30-1 and it keeps the rudder angle at 3-6deg for better
trade-off of lift and drag. Boat is balanced and doesn't round up too fast in
a puff; easy to control therefore.RonWild CheriC&C 30-1STL

Great. Thanks a lot. I was a little a little concerned about not having a
friction lock, looks like a non issue though. My Suzuki has been a pain. I
may replace it with a Tohatsu. Sounds like a good deal.

I may have this wrong, but I don't think that wire grounding the mast to the
keel actually can pass a lightning strike. I think it simply drains off any
induced charge built up on the mast, thus lowering the potential for a strike
to the mast. So the probability is still out there.RonWild Cher
I don't have a short track. My Genoa track runs from the shrouds to just
even with the forward edge of the cockpit. I used to race with a #1, but
most of the time my boat was overpowered, and the main was back-winded. I
tried a #2, with a six second handicap gain, and was able to point higher.

The C&C 30 owner's manual says "C&C yachts are designed to carry from 6" of
rake on the C&C 24 up to about 10" on the C&C 38."
I just set the rake on my 30 MK I last weekend, and interpolated to about 7.5".

All,
I wanted to add a USB port at the helm without a nav-pod. I was searching
for something already wired to avoid corrosion above deck.
Found that motorcycle USB ports mount on the binnacle guard and have wires
long enough to reach blow deck.

+1 on what Charlie said.
When the electrical current flows and it changes (a lighting strike can be
described as a very high and very thin wave shape) it generates magnetic field
and this one, in turn, generates current in any conductive object around. Add a
coil or even a bend in the conductor

I read your comments and just started nodding my head and almost laughed out
loud (about the breaking stuff)
It is in fact much cheaper to break stuff on other people’s boats than on your

Thanks Steve. I was just looking for a ballpark and was going to buy on either
side of that size as well. However, the locking but is so seized that I'm just
going to haul and do it. And have the yard do some other engine work.

Correction: The Buck Algonquin packing boxes made now use 1/4" packing with 1"
shaft size, but there is no way for someone else to know exactly what is
installed in your boat.
