I may have this wrong, but I don't think that wire grounding the mast to the keel actually can pass a lightning strike.  I think it simply drains off any induced charge built up on the mast, thus lowering the potential for a strike to the mast.  So the probability is still out there.RonWild Cher

I don't have a short track. My Genoa track runs from the shrouds to just even with the forward edge of the cockpit. I used to race with a #1, but most of the time my boat was overpowered, and the main was back-winded. I tried a #2, with a six second handicap gain, and was able to point higher. T
