Thanks Dennis (and Gary and Sam). Let me see where I stand on Tuesday - I may
be ready to epoxy if I can do the bent nail and acetone thing tomorrow. Let's

Okay Danny, I’ll bite… :^)
In pretty much all cases, the EV100 pilot will out-perform the ST4000. There’s
very little difference in the drive, although the newer drive has a bit more
power; but the ACU100 course computer and EV1 heading sensor are far more
capable and sophisticated than the
I think the void filling approach is right. If your chainplates are the same as mine, they are actually mounted proper to bulkhead(s) inside the boat. The deck you are looking at is not supporting any part of the m
Randy,
You're on the right track. Wish I'd known you were doing that, I would

If it was me, I'd remove the wet core as far back as I could with bent

We're having a spate of nice weather here in Denver - supposed to be sunny all
week and 61 degrees tomorrow (yes, in late January / early February).
So today I pulled the chainplates on my 1972 C&C 30 MK I as part of a planned
rebedding job (I confirmed leaks down the chainplates las

I have been using a compression release cable for years on my 3QM30 have not
had any water in exhaust, any other issues. I do close my water intake before
spinning the engine for anything other than starting. During starting I pull

I have been fixing my ancient AH 4000 ( not the ST4000, the real old one
with the black box and red buttons) for decades now.
I never was interested in the ST4000 because it seems to have more issues
and problems than the ancient one did. If I do replace it, I am going for
the newest unit. From eve
Josh, you are spot-on that it is the connector between the elbow and manifold
that is broken. When I zoom in on my hi-def photo, I can even see where it
looks like someone tried glue when it had cracked in some prior life. We can't
get to the boat until after closing, but I'm hoping I can get
Josh,
I like the idea of the solenoid. As far as using the re-purposed cable for
pre-lube, I’d be concerned about pumping raw water in to the exhaust manifold.
There would not be any exhaust manifold pressure while pumping raw water.
Maybe I’m paranoid?
