I've heard of folks replacing the mast with a "D" section type and double
spreaders, along with a little extra height. Less weight aloft would keep it
more upright to carry more sail area and more sail area would give a nice boost
to acceleration after a tack, not to mention top speed for any

I'm late to this thread (haven't been checking list regularly). I have an
AutoProp. 18" 3-bladed, model # AP 3899 RH.
I would say we're moderately happy with it. It provides good power and we
can motor ~6 kts at 2000-2100 rpm (3HMF); 6.5 kts at 2200.
