I used to tie the spring line to my jib track slide car before I switched to the soft shackle on the toe rail. In summary, there are a lot of ways to tie a spring line to a boat. -- Dennis C. Touche' 35-1 #83 Mandeville, LA On Thu, Mar 11, 2021 at 5:16 PM Tom Buscaglia via CnC-List <

On several nasty nights I used my hefty Wichard snatch blocks for midship tether (to keep me off the dock, attached to a neighboring spring piling) and other times for springlines. Just clip 'em on to wherever you need on the toerail. Works great. *Chuck Saur* 517 490-5926 Cell Thanks to all

Bill, The cleats were manufactured by Barton. They are made with nylon and are the 200mm size. The track that they slide onto was custom made from aluminum and are anodized. They are screwed to the toerail using the original hole spacing so no additional holes were needed. It is not possible to

Hi All, Similar to what is being discussed, I have had good success with using short climbing slings/strops through my toe rail. I order the 12" version and luggage tag it across about 3-4 slots in the aluminum to spread the load. I have them at the bow and at two spring locations along each side,

Dennis, Good to know the soft shackle works well--just built a few for the purpose. And good idea on the rubberized carabiner (Sirius topsides also painted). Peter McMinn _/) On Thu, Mar 11, 2021 at 10:01 AM Dennis C. via CnC-List < cnc-list@cnc-list.com> wrote: >

Richard, The coated carabiner I referenced states a rated load of 650 lbs. The one I used to use was in that range. Touche's slips in both Mandeville and Pensacola are well protected from wave action (except for the occasional party barge/powerboat idiot). I'd think that was adequate if your

Dennis; I like the Carabiner approach, however, I wonder what the loading will do to these...do you experience much in the way of surges or wave action which loads them up? I understand that in a marina or a backwater slip where there might not be much loading action, but I am on a river

OK, moving right along with this thread. As I stated earlier, I use a soft shackle. I tried the soft shackle and a spring hook but the spring hook on the soft shackle hung down under the rub rail and scratched the topsides paint. The soft shackle isn't as easy as snapping a spring hook. So, a
