Not sure what you have, furler, Tuff-Luff, etc., but here's my take on
pre-feeders.
First, highly recommended. They will greatly reduce the potential for
ripping a luff tape. (more on that at the bottom). I have the S

Every headsail on both of my boats is folded like you describe. And I am
constantly surprised that I need to teach just about everyone how to stow a
headsail.
I'm sure most of them think I'm just an old, opinionated, crotchety guy. But I
grew up sailing small boats with hanked on sails
