As an amateur electrician (boy, that should scare you), I don't understand
why the failure of the neutral will cause a fire? Yes all 110 taps will be
dead- correct?, and it is possible the 220 feeds will vary in voltage, but
why a fire opportunity?

Noank Shipyard, many boat owners and vendors had left there well before

boat is right across the river from Seaport Marine. When the explosions started
happening we rushed down. It was caused by an open neutral on the power feed
from the building to shore power to the boats in the water.
