Woo hoo - kudos to Brenton Leanhardt - he's the man!
He had asked me how much memory I was allocating to my guest VM... My machine
is RAM constrained (as in it has 1 GB), so I was only allocating 256 MB :o
Apparently I need a minimum of 512 MB ;) Oops!
Its installing just fine now :)

For what its worth, Alex Wood suggested I try koan with the -n option...
Result is the same...hangs on glibc-common :(
