Cobirders:
Many pole raptors in Weld County today 10/12. Around noon at Ireland
Reservoir east of Hudson, I saw a Broad-winged, Red-tailed, probable
Red-shouldered, and Rough-legged Hawks and a Kestrel.
At Latham, Sandhill Crane sounds alerted me to look up at a pair high

Hi Cobirders. I watched the Nijer Thistle feeder about 3 PM. There
was a black-backed Lesser Goldfinch,
an American Goldfinch, a couple of sparrows when a small bird that
had lots of bright red was finding seed
from the feeder it came and went a couple times. I decided it had to
be a Vermil
Just at dusk tonight in with the White-crowned Sparrows a beautiful Fox Sparrow
appeared. Very red wings, tail and red streaks on breast. Hope its there in the
morning. Also had a White-throated Sparrow. The weather is changing.

Dear Cobirders,
Now that the skies are clearing and the air is heating up, I just
spotted a Broad-winged Hawk soaring over my house in Gunbarrel.
Hopefully there will be Sandhills this evening!

All while out on a run Saturday morning I saw a Broad-winged Hawk at
Lee Martinez Park and saw probably the same individual again on Sunday
while out walking.
Also seen were White-crowned Sparrows, Orange-crowned Warblers, Pink-
sided Juncos and Yellow-rumped Warblers.

Hi all,
I went to Pueblo City Park mid-day today, and found a lot of birds. The best
thing was a Townsend's Warbler near the creek on the west side of the park.
There were Red-breasted and White-breasted Nuthatches, Brown Creeper, Mountain
and Black-capped Chickadees, Ruby-crowned Kinglets
Today in my yard:
Sharp-shinned Hawk, 1 juvenile. This bird was chased into my window by three
magpies. It hit pretty hard, and sat on the ground stunned for at least five
minutes. It recovered and flew away, albeit a bit disoriented at first.
Broad-tailed Hummingbird, 1 female. Go south litt
About an hour ago, I saw a BROAD-WINGED HAWK at Meadowlake (off Mallard Drive
in Falcon, east of Colorado Springs. ). It flew north-east towards Eastonville
Road where I tried but did NOT refind it but had a nice "consolation prize" : a
MERLIN near the dam.

Several reports of recent October Short-billed Dowitchers on COBIRDS are
interesting. I'd like to know their plumages(juvenile, winter, etc.)
Yesterday there were 6 dowitchers at Lake Beckwith, Colorado City, SW Pueblo
County. All were in winter adult plumage. One was smaller with noticeably

Andrew and I stopped by various Boulder County reservoirs yesterday, Saturday,
October 11th. Here's what we found:
Panama Reservoir. 10 Northern Pintails, 15 Lesser Scaup, 15 Ruddy Ducks, 40
Sandhill Cranes, 1 Greater Yellowlegs, 20 Baird's Sandpipers, 139 Long-billed
Dowit
