Location: extreme southeast corner of Grandview Cemetery, west end of Mountain
Avenue, Fort Collins, Larimer County, Colorado.
We got about 8" or so of wet snow last night and evening in Fort Collins. I
went over to the cemetery this morning, starting at 9am, to see how the
crossbills fared.
Have you seen the latest National Geographic (March 2010)?
Check out page 58. Does anyone else think that figure of the "strange
flying animal" look like one of the odonata Dave Leatherman projected
for us at DFO last month? Lower mandible and all?

With the snow has come the Cassin's Finches to my feeders though today there is
at least 12 which is 2 - 3x more than I have had before. I rarely get any if
it isn't snowing.

Driving home from work last night around 6pm I came across a flock of about 150
Horned Lark on CR 20.5 just east of CR 1. I first stopped for two birds on the
road, then the rest came and landed on the road in front of me. There were a
