As I walked back in the dry gulch in pinyon-juniper habitat, I spotted a juvenile Northern Goshawk perched in a deciduous tree on a ridge several hundred yards away. It was flushed by a bird that was harassing it and I got photos of it flying by. Though this may seem like an unusual location for

Earlier this morning before I went hiking outside of town, I birded around Canon City a bit. I stopped by Lakeside Cemetery where I found 4 male and 1 female Williamson's Sapsuckers (almost all car birding). Of significance were 5 or 6 Townsend's Solitaires, the first I have seen them this here t
