I have a safflower seed feeder that hangs by the kitchen window, frequented
this season mostly by house finches, black-capped and sometimes mountain
chickadees, white breasted nuthatches, downy woodpeckers. Yesterday morning, a
black capped chickadee repeatedly flapped against the window,
When I arrived at the Red Rocks feeders about 7:00 a.m., there was a
flock of Rosy-Finches - my guess is 50+. They stayed around until the
sun hit the feeders, and then took off. At least we have a pretty
good idea that the Rosy's are using Red Rocks to roost. Took my dog
for a walk and

The juvenile Yellow-bellied Sapsucker continues to hang out in the large Scots
Pine on the west side of the ditch in the northeast corner of Grandview
Cemetery, Fort Collins (Larimer). This bird can be amazingly wary and will
probably prove elusive if you park under the tree or walk right up
The highlight of an otherwise unspectacular day birding Saturday was a FOY
Great Horned Owl on the nest on the southeast side of I-76. At 65 mph it was
hard to pinpoint the location - somewhere east of the 88th St exit.
The only other surprise was a Mountain Chickadee at Barr Lake SP.
