One of my 1st harbingers of spring, at least at the house, is the
arrival of Common Grackles. While I wait to see if it snows, a sole
individual is hogging the tray feeder today, no doubt to be followed

Hi All,
Threw some seed out early and watched the feeders for an hour until
about 8:30 a.m. Did not see the Golden-crowned Sparrow, although the
1st year White-crowned Sparrow put in an appearance. Often the two of
them
show up at the feeders about the same time.
Visited the backside
This 2-minute youtube clip shows a Bald Eagle's ingenuity and
persistence at obtaining a submerged Nutria (beaver-like critter) that
someone had shot in Louisiana.

A flock of 25-30 Pinyon Jays came to our backyard feeders this morning,
along with 15 to 20 Evening Grosbeaks. The Pinyon Jays have been very
sporadic this year. We were down to just 5...and they were only coming in
every couple of weeks.
