A Sage Thrasher was foraging on the east side of Blue Mountain Elementary
School in west Longmont on Monday morning (4/22), before the snow storm hit.
Yesterday (4/23), a Loggerhead Shrike showed up at my bird feeders in west
Longmont. It is still there today, coming and going.

David Dowell, Chris Rurik and I spent a pleasant four hours at Chatfield SP
this morning.
At the Plum Creek Delta in the chill morning air were 3 Marbled Godwits and
2 White-faced Ibis hunkered down
sleeping, trying to stay warm. American Pipits numbered 30+. Two Turkey
Vultures in a tree nearby
Last night I went to Bear Creek Lake Park around 5:00 P.M. and observed a
mini-fallout along the edge of Big Soda Lake. Rob Raker, Michael Kiessig, and
I returned this morning and added a couple of new species to last night's list.
We walked from the Swim Beach east along the edge of the lake
At about 3:00pm Dan Stringer and I discovered a female Hudsonian Godwit loosely
associated with the 40-50 ibis near the water at the edge of the meadow east of
Cottonwood Pond that's directly east of the model airplane field. Easiest way
in is to park at new restrooms around the turn from the
Dinosaur Ridge

While we were eating dinner, my wife looked out the back door and asked:
What kind of bird is that? A Brown Thrasher was visiting. A new yard
bird for us. Along with the thrasher and a White Crowned Sparrow, our yard
was full of color! Getting tired of the same old Eurasian Collared Doves,
Hello Fellow Birders,
Last Saturday I counted 14 kestrels along Tower Road between 88th 120th
Aves in Adams County northeast of Denver. Today (Thursday) I counted 16
kestrels along the same 4-mile stretch (plus 2 roadkills). The same birds I
saw Saturday?

With a group of birders this evening, we birded for about an hour and a half
between the town of Walden proper and Walden Reservoir in North Park.
Highlights were a flock of about 30 Common Redpolls including a large one (from
Greenland??) at Sandy Flinnio(sp?)’s amazing backyard bird
At 5pm I was in CCSP at Cottonwood Pond:
Unable to locate the Hudsonian Godwit reported couple hours earlier.
Several folks there looking in different areas of the park. One area I
think was not covered later was the areas south from the Pond along
Cottonwood Creek.
