This afternoon I found a Yellow-billed Cuckoo in Van's Grove this afternoon
and got some good photos. I also found one on Sunday in Cottonwood Canyon
but only heard it giving the 'coo' song and could not locate it visually.

The Pacific loon that Ken Pals had reported at Big Johnson was in the dam
area at about 6 PM on Wednesday, June 5. The pictures are not great but it
definitely looks like a Pacific loon,

I went up Rist Canyon (Larimer) west of Bellvue today and did a brief inventory
mostly by ear of birds at the old USFS Picnic Area (roughly MP13, I think, on
LCR52E). As you may know or remember from last summer's posts, this area
largely escaped the ravages of the High Park Fire.

Louisville and found 2 Male Rose-breasted Grosbeaks. One was at a
backyard feeder along the Callahan Open Space (viewable from the bike

I stopped by the southeastern corner of Pueblo Reservoir, Pueblo County today
(5 June), where there were some shorebirds. One Pectoral Sandpiper, four
White-rumped Sandpipers, two American Avocets, and Spotted Sandpipers.
Yesterday (4 June), in the same location, I saw one Semipalmate
