A Rufous Hummingbird just showed up at my feeder. I live on the west side of
Colorado Springs in the Pleasant Valley neighborhood.

A Greater Roadrunner ran across the Barr Lake State Park entrance road about
40 feet in front of my car, between the entry station and Picadilly Road, at
about 12:45 today.

While doing a survey for RMBO on a transect in spruce-fir forest at 11,000
ft this morning, I heard the distinct call and song of White-winged
Crossbill. I was reminded of a recent posting about them being seen and
heard in Boulder County a week or so ago, and so was intrigued to know
Yesterday I drove around some of the lower Arkansas Valley towns where I
was impressed with good numbers of Mississippi Kites including about 20 in
La Junta plus more in other towns in the area. I got some very close-up
photos of Mississippi Kites using long telephoto lens capability plus even

Today Nick Moore and I wandered south. Sadly, not much interesting was
happening at Chico Basin Ranch, excepting a RED-HEADED WOODPECKER on the El
Paso side
At Holcim Wetlandss, the TRICOLORED HERON remained. There was also a Green
Heron still there, but no sign nor symptom of
SeEtta, the dickcissel that has been coming to my back yard (Centennial,
Arapahoe County) sounds close to the call you recorded.
