Hello, everybody.
I found a Bewick's Wren yesterday near Greenlee Preserve, Boulder County,
Monday, Sept. 9th. (The species is casual in Boulder County.) Unfortunately,
the bird was on private property. But, hmm, if you walk around near the
intersection of Waneka Lake Trail and Schooner

The adult male Ruby-throated Hummingbird I reported on 9/9 visiting my

Hi, Cobirders.
Sorry for the late post, but I had some email problems last night.
Yesterday, 9/9, we were at Turkey Creek Ranch (on Fort Carson military
reservation) off CO Hwy 115 in El Paso county.
On a visit there six weeks ago, we saw NO Lewis’s Woodpeckers. Yesterday in 3

There is precious little at Prewitt this morning- not the hoped for fallout,
but the one gem- a fully yellow below Philly.

Hello, Birders.
With Bob Zilly, Edie Israel, Alex Cruz, and David Waltman on a rainy Tuesday
morning, 9/10, at Cottonwood Marsh, Boulder County, I saw 5 Pectoral
Sandpipers. Also a Northern Waterthrush along the Cottonwood Marsh boardwalk
and a singing Eastern Phoebe along the west edge of
I just had to respond to Peter Burke's post on this subject. Sunday, I
visited a number of reservoirs, including Boulder, Lagerman, Clover Basin,
and Panama, and the most interesting sighting was a flock of pelicans at
Panama.
I went to Walden on Monday and managed to find three species of
Cobirds:
The rain is knocking 'em down. The next two days should be
good for birding along the front range if you are brave enough to stand in
the rain.Look particularly in willows thickets and canyon bottoms.

The riparian strip along the irrigation ditch behind my house is usually very
quiet, so when the birds are hopping, it suggests a fallout. The main species
present this morning were Wilson's Warblers (20 or so), Western Wood-Pewee (4),
and vireos (3 species including Red-eyed, Warbling and

At about 12:30, Maggie Boswell and I re-found the small flock of Pectoral
Sandpipers noted by Ted Floyd earlier this morning. However, the birds had
moved to Sawhill Pond #2. I then went on to Lagerman Reservoir where the
Sabine's Gull reported earlier in the day by David Waltman was lounging
I wanted to add that I also followed a Warbling Vireo singing from tree to
tree along the east side of Sawhill Pond #4 also around 7 a.m. on Saturday
morning (9/7). The highlight of the morning was hiding along the east side
of Pond #4 and watching an adult bald eagle perched in a cottonwood in

Hi COBirders,
After four busy days we kind of expected a drop in numbers today. With the new
front, a lot of wind, and a little moisture, we did have a turnover in birds.
Early on we had lots of Wilson's Warblers, and several Swainson's THRUSHES, and
FOS Hermit Thrush and Townsend's Solitaire.
Greetings All
Jackson State Park was a riot today. A riot of Willy Wobs (aka, Wilson's
Warblers). Beyond the YELLOW-BELLIED FLYCATCHER, there were a number of birds
of some interest, so I am pasting the entire list below. These observations
took place between 11:30 AM and 3:30 PM with high
I finally got out to Crow Valley Campground today at about 2:30pm and birded
until 5:30. There were only a few campers, the ground was wonderfully
uncrunchy due to the recent moisture, the air cool, and the place seemingly its
old self. I love that place under such conditions. It was more

Today, I received a call from Joe Roller saying that Doug Kibbe and Mackenzie ?
(terrible with names) had a Prothonotary Warbler at Main Reservoir (NW corner
of Jewell and Kipling). Within 10 minutes, they got me on the bird. The
gorgeous warbler was hanging with a flock of Bushtits,
Went out for a little bit at 10pm to see what I might hear since there is a low
cloud deck (pretty hard to come by in CO overnight this time of year) and the
low-level winds are out of the northish direction. The scattered showers are
making things a little more concentrated I am guessing.
A note that Marston has a few mudflats on the western side. There were none
except a little one, 2 weeks ago.
Lot's of American White Pelican, Double-crested Cormorant, Hooded Merganser,
many Common Merganser way out near the east side. 1, ad. Forster's Tern and 1,
